Foldable Camping Bed
Raise your sleeping mattress off the tent floor with a foldable camping bed for additional comfort at camp.

Self-Inflating Mattress

Do I need to add any Kilimanjaro upgrades?
No. Your standard Kilimanjaro Hiking Tours package already includes the core mountain services, equipment and support needed for your climb. The upgrades on this page are optional extras for hikers who would like additional comfort, privacy, personal support or customised travel arrangements.
Should I book Kilimanjaro upgrades in advance?
Yes, we recommend requesting upgrades in advance. Camp beds, upgraded mattresses, single tents and portable toilets are subject to availability, while additional porter and guide services require advance crew planning.
Requesting upgrades before arrival also allows us to confirm availability, pricing and arrangements in your written quotation.
Is a portable toilet included in my Kilimanjaro package?
A portable toilet is included with our scheduled group climbs on camping routes. For other climb types, availability and inclusions can vary, so check your written KHT quotation to confirm whether a portable toilet is already included or can be added as an optional upgrade.
Can I add an extra porter to carry my daypack?
Yes. A personal daypack porter can be arranged to help carry your daypack throughout the trek, including during the summit attempt.
This is different from an additional luggage porter, who provides extra camp-to-camp luggage capacity rather than carrying your daypack while you hike.
Are camp comfort upgrades available on the Marangu Route?
The Marangu Route uses mountain huts rather than camping tents, so upgrades such as a private sleeping tent, foldable camp bed and portable toilet are not offered in the same way as on our camping routes. Ask us about any specific comfort requirements when booking your Marangu climb.
Can I add hotel, transfer or Arusha arrangements to my climb?
Yes. We can personalise your pre- and post-climb arrangements with hotel upgrades, additional private transfers, or an Arusha start or finish.
Costs vary according to your selected hotel, travel dates and transport arrangements, so these options are quoted individually.
