COVID ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TANZANIA & ZANZIBAR

TANZANIA COVID ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Latest COVID entry requirements for tourists traveling into Tanzania after 12 January 2023.

As per entry requirements on 12 January 2023, the major points for our tourists to consider when traveling to Tanzania are:

  1. All travellers (vaccinated or un-vaccinated) entering or transiting through the United Republic of Tanzania are not required to present any proof of vaccination or to perform any RT-PCR test on arrival to an entry port. Please note that from time to time, the port officials may perform a Rapid Antigen Test free of charge of randomly selected passengers
  2. Thermal and physical screening will be done and passengers found to be symptomatic during screening will be isolated and handled as per the health protocols
  3. All departing travellers are advised to seek information prior to departure from their travel agents regarding COVID-19 requirements of their country of destination or conveyance to be used.

ZANZIBAR COVID ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

As per entry requirements on 12 August 2022, the major points for our tourists to consider when traveling to Zanzibar are:

  1. All travellers entering the United Republic of Tanzania (including Tourists, Tanzanians, returning residents and those in transit through land borders who are:

A.    Fully vaccinated* – will be exempted from both RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test requirements. Travellers will be required to present a valid vaccination certificate with QR code for verification upon arrival. The only accepted vaccines are those which have been approved by the United Republic of Tanzania and the World Health Organization (list here: https://extranet.who.int/pqweb/sites/default/files/documents/Status_COVID_VAX_02March2022.pdf). * Fully vaccinated means complete administered dose(s) of the vaccines as prescribed by manufacturer and approved by the World Health Organization.

B.    Not fully vaccinated or un-vaccinated (including those not eligible for vaccination) will be required to present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR or NAATs certificate with a QR code obtained within 72 hours before departure.

C.   Not fully vaccinated and have no negative COVID-19 RT- PCR certificate (including unvaccinated and those not eligible for vaccination due to their country policies) will be tested for COVID 19 upon arrival using a RT- PCR at a cost of $100 USD.

  1. All departing travellers are advised to seek information prior to departure from their travel agents regarding COVID-19 requirements of their country of destination or conveyance to be used. 
  1. Children aged 12 years and below are exempted from all RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test requirements.
